PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a keyboard which is available, even in a compact terminal, such as, portable telephone, and which is superior in operability. SOLUTION: A portable telephone 1 is provided with a keyboard 11. The keyboard 11 is provided with keys 111a to 111h for entering alphabets. The keys 111a to 111h are respectively provided with fingerprint imaging parts 112a to 112h for imaging the fingerprint images of the fingers which have touched the keys. A comparison part 115 acquires the fingerprint information from the fingerprint imaging parts 112a to 112h, and specifies the classification of the finger which has touched the key, by referring to a fingerprint information storage part 116. When the comparison part 115 specifies the classification of the key touched by the finger and the classification of the finger which has touched the key, a control part 100 specifies a character from the combination of the key classification and the finger classification, by referring to a character registration part 117.
