PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a defect that the phase of a halftone screen is shifted by the influence of coordinate conversion in a halftone pattern in processing printed image data to correct positional deviation, which causes a pattern change before and after the coordinate conversion, resulting in density unevenness. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a pattern detecting means for detecting the halftone pattern, and a means for determining whether a correction of pixel units is made by a coordinate conversion means within an area of the halftone pattern. Special processing is performed to the halftone pattern according to the result to reduce density unevenness due to the phase deviation of the halftone screen. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
