PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airtightness inspection method for performing airtightness inspection on a workpiece accurately and highly precisely without being affected by eccentricity or distortion inevitably having arisen therein. SOLUTION: The workpiece W previously inserted in an inside inspection tool 6 is pressed into a chamber part 16 of an outside inspection tool 5 as far as its inner tube part 16a for test by means of a press-in tool 7. A pressure is applied to the chamber part 16 by thereinto introducing compressed air. In cases where leakage occurs between the tube part 16a and a lip R or in a gap between an outer tube part 6a for test of the inspection tool 6 and a boss part B, a change in the flow of the leakage is used for adequacy determination. The inspection tool 6, with its upper end swingably supported, is followingly displaceable in a radial direction in accordance with the displacement of the boss part B of the workpiece W.
