The structure (1) has a plastic cross bar (2) made of light alloy and fixedly connected to supporting body elements at lateral end areas via fastening consoles (3, 4). The cross bar is implemented as open or closed hollow section and is deformation-willingly implemented for absorption of impact energy. A transverse running strand (8) made from high-tensile fibers such as glass fibers is integrated with the cross bar, where the strand is fixed at the fastening consoles. A plastic bumper outer shell (5) is provided for covering the cross bar.
