In a communication system including plural pairs of one transmission-side device (2) and one receiving-side device (3), transmission characteristics within each pair is improved. A transmission signal (sk(t)) is transmitted from the transmission-side device (2-k) to the receiving-side device (3-k) several times, and the receiving-side device (3-k) updates a weight factor maxtrix (Wk) used by an FIR filter for filtering a transmission signal (rk(t)) and a hopping pattern (Pk) at predetermined time intervals. The receiving-side device (3-k) transmits the updated hopping patterns (Pk) to the transmission-side device (2-k), and the transmission-side device (2-k) receives the updated hopping patterns (Pk) and uses them for subsequent spectrum diffusion processing.
