<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mixed metal oxide catalyst containing vanadium and antimony for the ammoxidation of paraffins into unsaturated mononitriles, in particular for the ammoxidation of propane and isobutane into acrylonitrile and methacrylonitrile, respectively. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst composition includes a compound represented by the formula: VSb<SB>a</SB>M<SB>b</SB>O<SB>x</SB>(wherein V is vanadium; Sb is antimony; M is at least one element selected from the group consisting of magnesium, aluminum, zirconium, silicon, hafnium, titanium, and niobium; a is from 0.5 to 20, b is from 2 to 50; x is determined by the valence requirements of the other elements present; and vanadium and antimony are isolated in a matrix of the oxides of M). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
