PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve positioning accuracy equal to that of an actuator having the mountable maximum number in an actuator having the smaller number of suspensions than the mountable maximum number. SOLUTION: A magnetic disk device has an arm 22 provided with a suspension 18 for applying a predetermined load onto a slider 16 with a magnetic head, and an actuator 26 provided with an arm 22 mounting a plate 20 instead of having the suspension 18. The plate 20 attached to the arm 22 in place of the suspension 18 has a partially small section with respect to a section perpendicular to an arm longitudinal direction (constricted part), and the constricted part is located between a plate leading end and an arm attachment part.
