PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of suppressing noise caused by the rotation of a cooling fan, and an image display system. SOLUTION: The projector 1 includes a projector body 2, a first air intake duct 6, a second air intake duct 7, and an air intake switching part 8. The projector body 2 is constituted to be covered with a housing 70, and an intake port 71 to take in air for cooling the inside of the housing 70 is provided to the upper surface 70t of the housing 70. The first air intake duct 6 is a branched duct branched from a main duct 60 for supplying conditioning air, and one end thereof is connected to the main duct 60 and the other end is connected to the air intake switching part 8. One end of the second air intake duct 7 is connected to the air intake switching part 8 and the other end is connected to the intake port 71 of the projector body 2.
