PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display medium, a writing device and a display device capable of suppressing decrease in display density. SOLUTION: The display medium 12 is configured to have a hollow structure 26 that includes: first spaces 26A arranged in at least the plane direction on a surface of a display substrate 18, the surface opposing to a back substrate 20; and connection holes 26B having hole diameters varying by imparting electric field stimulation as a first stimulus, the connection holes connecting the first spaces 26A with the outside in at least an open state with the largest hole diameter, and allowing first particles 36 to pass through from the outside to enter the first space 26A. After the connection holes 26B are opened by the first stimulus such as electricity, light, heat or pH, a voltage to induce electrophoresis of the first particles 36 toward the display substrate 18 is applied to allow the first particles 36 to reach into the first spaces 26A of the hollow structure 26, and further, the first stimulus is imparted to close the connection holes 26B.
