PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of preventing toner image from being disturbed by a secondary transfer roller when the toner image on an intermediate transfer belt passes through a secondary transfer nip. SOLUTION: When the toner image on the intermediate transfer belt passes through the secondary transfer nip before transferring the toner image onto a transfer material secondarily, the voltage having the same polarity as normal polarity of toner is applied on the secondary transfer roller, driving of the secondary transfer roller by inputs inputted into it is released, and the secondary transfer roller follows the operation of the intermediate transfer belt. When the secondary transfer roller is driven by the inputs, difference in peripheral speed occurs between the intermediate transfer belt and the secondary transfer roller, but the occurrence of the difference in peripheral speed can be suppressed by releasing the driving of the secondary transfer roller.
