Disclosed is a resin composition that is the raw material for an original printing plate for laser engraving whereby an original printing plate of superior resolution can be manufactured without producing printing defects. Disclosed is an original printing plate for laser engraving with which an image is formed by laser light irradiation to form a printing plate, wherein said original printing plate for laser engraving is characterized by possessing a printing layer that comprises a photosensitive resin composition in which the essential ingredients are a soluble polyamide or soluble polyether urethane urea, an unsaturated ethylene monomer, and a photopolymerization initiator, and by the content of (meth)acryloyl groups in the photosensitive resin composition being 0.25 to 0.40 mol per 100 g of photosensitive resin composition.
