PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact light source device capable of increasing efficiency of light utilization and to provide an image reading device equipped with it. SOLUTION: This light source device 36 is used in the image reading device and applies light to a reading position A of a document P. A transparent substrate 102 has a first main face 104 and a second main face 106. A light emitting part 100 is sealed by the first main face 104. The second main face 106 has such a shape that intensity of the light outgoing from the transparent substrate 102 becomes the greatest in the direction in which distribution of the intensity of the light is inclined onto a reading position A side for a normal line of the first main face 104.
