PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid level detector, a liquid level detection method, and an automatic analysis apparatus which are characterized by shortening the time required for analysis work. SOLUTION: The liquid level detector that is used in the automatic analysis apparatus mounting a stirring device for stirring liquid and detects the liquid level of the liquid dispensed to a reaction vessel C, the liquid level detection method, and the automatic analysis apparatus are provided. The liquid level detector 20 comprises a stirring bar 11a that is disposed in the stirring device 11 and has conductivity, a fixed electrode 22 arranged near the reaction vessel, an oscillator that is connected to the fixed electrode and oscillates a signal of a predetermined frequency, and a determination section 16b for detecting electric change accompanying contact of the stirring bar with the liquid and determining the contact with liquid. The determination section is guided to the fixed electrode by a signal oscillated by the oscillator when the liquid is stirred by the stirring bar, and determines the contact of the stirring bar with the liquid based on the signal received by the stirring bar.
