PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable choke cleaning by simple control without an apparatus being made large for the liquid jet apparatus. SOLUTION: In the driving method of the ink-jet recorder equipped with both a converging channel which guides the ink from an ink cartridge to a recording head and a capping device which sucks the ink from nozzles of the recording head, a part of a wall surface which constitutes the converging channel is formed by a first film 228 flexed by a pressure difference between inside and outside of the converging channel. The method includes a pressure reducing phase of reducing the pressure of the ink in the converging channel on the upstream side from the first film by a pressure adjusting means, a sucking phase of sucking the ink from the nozzles of the recording head by the capping device when the pressure of the ink in the converging channel on the upstream side from the first film becomes not larger than a predetermined value, and a pressure increasing phase of increasing the pressure of the ink inside the converging channel on the upstream side from the first film by the pressure adjusting means after the sucking phase.
