PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a teeth positioning method for a gear shaving machine capable of easily positioning teeth of a shaving cutter and a workpiece gear in a short period of time. SOLUTION: When the workpiece gear W arranged to separate from the shaving cutter 12 is moved toward the shaving cutter 12 by a servomotor 30, moving speed of the workpiece gear W is decreased by controlling the servomotor 30 in the middle of movement of the workpiece gear W, and then, positioning teeth between the shaving cutter 12 and the workpiece gear W is carried out in this state.
