PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sequentially driven display which can eliminate vertical irregularity due to potential fluctuation caused by coupling between adjacent pixels, can reduce crosstalk and is free from the deterioration of image quality. SOLUTION: A method of driving active matrix device is characterized in that a first writing period in which a first potential kept substantially constant is written into a first data line (data line 202-3) and a second writing period in which a second potential kept substantially constant is written into a second data line (data line 202-4) have completion timings different from each other and, at the same time, have a period in which both writing periods overlap each other.
