A motor is provided with a stator in which a plurality of magnetic poles are disposed around an outer circumferential portion at a first predetermined interval, and the rotor having permanent magnets magnetically affixed to opposite poles at a second predetermined interval, rotationally disposed through predetermined gaps in the outer circumference of the stator. The magnetic poles of the stator form extended portions from the bases of the magnetic poles extending in a direction substantially parallel to the permanent magnets, the extended portions comprising high-permeability electromagnetic steel plates with a silica content of less than 3.0 wt. %.
