A screw compressor in which a medium leakage on the high-pressure side and a thrust load are reduced. The screw compressor (1) has a screw rotor (2, 52) and a plurality of gate rotors (5a, 5b, 5c, 5d). The screw rotor (2, 52) is rotatable and has a helical groove (11a, 11b) in the outer peripheral surface of the screw rotor. The gate rotors (5a, 5b, 5c, 5d) have teeth (12) arranged in a radial pattern and engaging with the groove (11a, 11b) of the screw rotor (2, 52). The helical groove (11a, 11b) has the first screw groove (11a) for compressing fluid from one end side to the other end side of the screw rotor (2, 52) and the second groove (11b) for compressing the fluid from the other end side to the one end side of screw rotor (2, 52).
