A composition containing a Galla rhois extract or compound isolated from the extract as an active ingredient is provided to prevent and treat zoonosis. An anti-bacterial composition against zoonosis comprises a Galla rhois extract or compound isolated from the extract as an active ingredient. The compound contains a compound selected from gallic acid, mixture of methyl p-digallic acid and methyl m-digallic acid, penta-O-galloyl glucose, ethyl gallate, or mixture of ethyl p-digallate and ethyl m-digallate as an active ingredient. The extract or compound is contained in 0.1-50 weight%.
