LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DRIVING THE SAME

A liquid crystal display and a driving method for improving the quality of an image by emitting the uniform white light are provided to emit uniform white light by comparing the luminance of the light sources with the set up reference luminance signal. A plurality of light sources of a backlight unit provides the light of the other color to the display panel. A backlight driving unit(300) turns on a plurality of the light sources according to the color during a sensing/correcting period. Light sources are turned for the display period. A light sensor produces the brightness signal showing each color by color luminance of light sources to the color by color. A luminance correcting unit produces the brightness signals about each color by color light source based on each color by color sensing signal.
