A Bacillus subtilis having antibacterial and antifungal activities, which is isolated from a fermented soybean is provided to maintain thermal treatment and enzyme treatment and have safety to the body. A Bacillus subtilis MJP1 strain (KFCC 11401P) has antibacterial activity to gram-positive bacteria and antifungal activity. The gram-positive bacteria comprises Listeria sp., Bacillus sp., Enterococcus sp., and Staphylococcus sp. The fungus is Candida sp., Aspergillus sp., Penicillum sp., Epicoccum sp., and Cladosporium sp. The antibacterial composition comprises the Bacillus subtilis MJP1 strain, cultured material of the strain, concentration material of the cultured material, or dried material of the cultured medium.
