A method of setting up a background image of a mobile terminal from a remote place is provided to enable the second terminal to automatically set a corresponding image as a background picture when a specific image is transmitted from the first terminal to the second terminal, thereby removing cumbersome things that the background picture is manually set. The first mobile terminal transmits an MMS(Multimedia Message Service) message including an image to the second mobile terminal(ST11). The second mobile terminal automatically changes and sets an existing background picture into the image(ST15). When a folder of the second mobile terminal is opened or a slide is raised, a picture of the second mobile terminal displays the image as a background picture(ST17).
