Class 38 (v) A dust-proof switch, suitable for centrifugal actuation to control the starting winding of a motor, comprises a two-part casing 19, 20, between the adjacent edges of which are clamped a member 24 carrying a fixed contact 26 and having an external terminal portion 25, and a spindle 33 carrying externally an operating arm 17 and internally a cam 30 co-operating with a member 29 carrying a movable contact 28. The member 29 and the cam are normally urged to the Fig. 3 position by a spring 39, the cam being pivoted clockwise to close the contacts, Fig. 2, upon the engagement of a centrifugallyactuated sleeve 14 with the arm 17. The switch parts are clamped in position by a spring wire member 45. The contact gap is limited by a stop 46 which may be replaced by a further fixed contact, Fig. 5 (not shown).</p> |
