A sorting apparatus and a control method thereof are provided to treat a tracing sheet which need not to be excluded in the same way as the normal sheet, thereby processing the system of the apparatus efficiently. A sorting apparatus comprises a plurality of sensors inspecting the metal included in a paper sheet at various heights, a judging unit which determines whether the paper sheet need to be excluded based on the pattern in which a plurality of sensors inspect the metal of the paper sheet, an exclusion unit(13) excluding the paper sheet which is determined to exclude, and a sorting unit classifying the paper sheet which is determined not to exclude based on the sorting information of the paper sheet. |
