Method, system and device for exchanging data packets in wide area cellular telephone networks

The exchanging of data packets involves at least a first node and at least a second node capable of connecting each other through lub interface and exchanging data packets using a protocol stack which comprises a IP or ATM based transport network layer and at least a physical layer (Phy1, Phy2, Phy3). One of the two nodes can be a target node-B (NB_target) connected to at least one user equipment (UE) through Uu interface and the other node, a hub node-B (NB_hub) connected to a radio network controller (RNC). The lub interface between both nodes uses a W-CDMA physical layer (Phy2) and a layer 2 over said W-CDMA physical layer consisting of Media Access Control (MAC) protocol and Radio Link Control (RLC) protocol. The W-CDMA physical layer (Phy2) in lub interface uses a frequency band different from the frequency band used at the W-CDMA physical layer (Phy3) configured in Uu interface.
