A method for calculating a shrinkage cavity during metal solidification simulation is provided to apply a donor-acceptor method, thereby accurately estimating a shrinkage cavity. All areas to be interpreted are divided to unit cells of a predetermined size. Liquid/solid volume of metal is defined in an individual cell(S310). Solidification fraction and liquid contraction amount of the individual cell are calculated(S320). If adjacent cells having solidification fraction which is lower than limit solidification fraction exist, a liquid movement amount due to gravity is calculated(S330,S340). If unit cells included in the all areas to be interpreted reach to the limit solidification fraction, only shrinkage is calculated(S350). The liquid movement amount is a vertical movement amount from a cell located in an upper part to a cell located in a lower part.
