An imaging device for imaging an area of a table 110 on which an imaging object is to be mounted comprises a camera head holding arm 140 which can be varied between a position in which the camera head 120 is held in an imaging position and a position in which the camera head lies adjacent the table 110. The arm 140 rotates about a shaft 204 having one-way clutch 240 which applies a resistance to movement of the arm 140 when in the imaging position and releases the arm from frictional forces when the arm is moved from the table to the imaging position. A further resistance unit is provided which resists movement of the arm in the imaging position only when the camera head is in the orientation used when the camera head is to be moved to a position adjacent the table. |
