A liquid crystal display device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to form a semiconductor layer by a transparent thin film transistor made of metal oxide semiconductor substances, thereby improving an aperture ratio and a transmission rate by the semiconductor layer. A semiconductor layer(134) is formed of a substrate(130). A source electrode(136) and a drain electrode(137) are spaced by predetermined distance on the semiconductor layer. A gate insulating layer(131) is formed on the source electrode and the drain electrode. A gate electrode(132) is formed on the gate insulating layer. The semiconductor layer is formed of metal oxide semiconductor substances.
