Use of maize ( Zea mays L.) peptide hydrolysate, as active ingredient able to activate the synthesis of aquaporins, alone or in combination with other active ingredients, and in a cosmetic composition or nutraceutical composition to improve hydration and skin barrier function, is claimed.
