The device (1) has a sealed chamber (2) housing a movable arc contact (10-2) movable with respect to a fixed arc contact (10-1) along a longitudinal symmetric axis (AA). The chamber has an envelope with two dielectric hoods (26) arranged around metal conductive covers (6-1, 6-2). Each hood has a base wall and a lateral peripheral wall that is extended along the axis such that a junction zone (8) and an end of an insulating tubular part (4) are located in one of the hoods, where the part is made of ceramics. An interface between an insulating elastomer coating (22) and the part is sealed. An independent claim is also included for a method for insulating a current interrupting device.
