PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device which ensures safety avoiding loss of image data by damage to recording media and enables users to use it comfortably. SOLUTION: The imaging device includes a control part 106 for setting a predetermined capacity for a detachable recording medium 105. When a used capacity of the recording medium 105 does not exceed the predetermined capacity, the control part 106 gives an instruction to a signal processing part 104 so as to record divided image data in a storage means 107 intermittently and to record the divided image data in the recording medium 105 continuously. When a used capacity of the recording medium 105 exceeds the predetermined capacity, the control part 106 gives an instruction to the signal processing part 104 so as to record the divided image data in the recording means 107 intermittently and to record the divided image data intermittently by overwriting them in an area of the recording medium 105 where the image data overlapping with those in the storage means 107 are recorded.
