PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To specify, when a fault occurs in communication between a remote monitoring terminal and a remote monitoring center in a remote monitoring system, which device causes the fault. SOLUTION: In a remote monitoring system 1, a remote monitoring terminal 3 for monitoring a group of freezing devices 4 installed in a store is disposed in each store and the remote monitoring terminals 3 in the plurality of stores and a remote monitoring center 6 for managing the remote monitoring terminals 3 in a centralized manner are connected so as to communicate with each other via a communication line network 10, each of the remote monitoring terminals 3 transmits, in accordance with an operational situation of the group of freezing devices 4, information relating to the operational situation to the remote monitoring center 6 via the communication line network 10, tries communication to a remote monitoring terminal 3 in any other store if the information can not be transmitted normally to the remote monitoring center 6, and determines whether or not its own communication function is normal on the basis of it whether or not the communication can be carried out normally.
