PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound diffuser capable of obtaining diffusion effects in a comparatively broad band including a low sound region with a comparatively thinner configuration. SOLUTION: In the sound diffuser 10, a plurality of space areas 16 are formed by forming and projecting a partition wall 14 of a parallel cross shape, in front of a plate member 12. A rear section of each space area 16 is closed with the plate member 12, and an aperture section 16a is formed in a front section. Each aperture section 16a is respectively closed with a film shape sound absorbing material 18. Height of arrangement of faces of the film shape sound absorbing materials 18 differs between adjoining space areas 16 and 16, and thus, layer thickness of a rear air layer of the film shape sound absorbing material 18 varies.
