PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely detect misdetection of an overcurrent due to a noise, or the like, and further, to surely clean an object to be cleaned, even if there is load variation in a motor M due to the soiled state of the object to be cleaned. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a rotating shaft 71; a moving body 72, attached to the rotating shaft 71 and including a cleaning member 73, and configured to move with the rotation of the rotating shaft 71; the motor M for rotating the rotating shaft 71; a control section 8 for controlling the rotation of the motor M; a current detecting section 77 for detecting the current flowing in the motor M; and a time clocking section 83 for clocking a time. When an overcurrent flowing in the motor M by the current detecting section 77 is detected, and when a motor drive time, before detecting the overcurrent after starting to drive the motor M, is shorter than the time obtained by subtracting a predetermined time from a set time, the control section 8 repeatedly performs misdetection confirming operation, to stop the rotation of the motor M and makes the motor M rotate backward for a fixed period, thereafter, and rotates the motor M again, normally once or a plurality number of times.
