PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of easily and appropriately molding a test piece for evaluating the quality of a molten metal for molding a product therewith by a simple structure, and thereby appropriately evaluating the quality of the molten metal for molding a product therewith; and a mold. SOLUTION: This mold 1 is arranged on the upper side of a holding furnace 2 to be filled with a molten metal M to be pushed up through a stoke 10, and used for a low-pressure molding method. The mold is provided with: a cavity 3 for molding a product P of a predetermined shape; a test piece molding part 4 molding a test piece TP for quality evaluation of the molten metal M; and a communication part 5 making the cavity 3 communicate with the test piece molding part 4. The product P and the test piece TP are integrally molded at the same time by injecting the molten metal M in the mold 1, the product P is separated from the test piece TP, and the quality of the molten metal M for molding the product P therewith is evaluated based on the test piece TP by a predetermined evaluation method.
