PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately detect misalignment between the orthogonal direction orthogonal to rows of discharge openings arranged in one direction and a sub-scanning direction. SOLUTION: In the discharge opening formation area formed in the bottom of a head main body, sixteen longitudinal rows of a large number of ink discharge openings are arranged in a widthwise direction. A test pattern is formed using a total of four ink discharge openings composing a main discharge opening pair and a subsidiary discharge opening pair. The two ink discharge openings composing the main discharge opening pair belong to two rows positioned the furthest outside of the sixteen rows. Projective points, projected from orthogonal directions on an imaginary line extending along the lengthwise direction are adjacent to each other. In the two ink discharging openings composing the subsidiary discharging opening pair, projective points are adjacent to the projective points of the main discharging opening pair.
