PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination operating device for operating a lighting apparatus in which the lighting apparatus is easily operated in a lighting status with low illuminance in the process of switching-over of lighting operation and turning-off operation of the main illumination. SOLUTION: The illumination operating device carries out an operation of a lighting apparatus having a main illumination and a sub illumination, and includes an operating knob of movable type and includes a switching part in which a position of carrying out lighting operation of a main illumination, a position of carrying out lighting operation of a sub illumination, and a position of carrying out a turning-off operation are arranged in this order and an instruction part which transmits to the lighting apparatus a signal showing the operation content corresponding to the positions of the reference points of the operation knob.
