PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device package that can improve workability of hermetically sealing operation, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The optical device package includes: a housing 12 for storing an optical device 11; an optical fiber 13 that has an optical core fiber part comprising an optical core fiber 13b with a metallic coat 13a applied partially and has an optical fiber coating part covering the optical core fiber 13b with a sheath 13c, and that optically couples with the optical device 11; and an optical fiber insertion pipe 14 that extends at least from one side face of the housing 12 and that is designed to insert the optical fiber 13 into the housing 12. The housing 12 is hermetically sealed with solder 17 between the optical fiber insertion pipe 14 and the metallic coat 13a of the optical fiber 13, with the sheath 13c of the optical fiber 13 temporarily fixed with a quick-drying adhesive 16 in the optical fiber insertion pipe 14.
