PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for improving corrosion fatigue resistance of a brass-plated steel wire formed to a spiral form, a brass-plated steel wire having excellent fatigue resistance, a steel cord for reinforcing rubber articles and a tire. SOLUTION: A brass-plated steel wire 10 drawn out from the final die 11 of a wire-drawing process is wound around a driving capstan 12 at a prescribed angle, delivered to an auxiliary pulley 13, and the delivered brass-plated steel wire 10 is wound around the auxiliary pulley 13 at a prescribed angle and returned to the driving capstan 12 with a different angle, thereby winding the brass-plated steel wire 10 around the driving capstan 12 at a prescribed angleθsmaller than 360°and introducing to a straightening apparatus 14 or directly introducing the brass-plated steel wire 10 drawn out from the final die 11 of the wire-drawing process into the straightening apparatus 14 to increase the residual compression stress of the surface layer of the brass-plated steel wire 10 before forming to the spiral form.
