To equalize the position of the lie of a patient (1), with a support table (3) and a sliding board (2) at an imaging or radio-therapy machine, the weight on the board is registered by force sensors (7) at the table. The height offset in the imaging/treatment field (6) is computed from the individual bending characteristics of the table and board, the extension length of the board and the weight upon it, taking the application into account.
