OPTICAL RECEPTION CHARACTERISTICS AUTOMATICALLY SETTING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical reception characteristics automatically setting apparatus of an optical receiver for optimizing reference levels and discrimination levels of the receiver.

SOLUTION: The received optical signal is converted into an electrical signal by an avalanche diode (APD) 103, and the converted signal is amplified by a trans-impedance amplifier (TIA) 107. The electrical signal output from the TIA 107 is input to a clock data reproduction (CDR) circuit 111 via a limiter amplifier (LIM) 109. The average voltages of the output side of the LIM 109 are branched before being AC coupled so that the positive and negative voltages are respectively detected by a voltage monitor circuit 204. Based on the average voltages detected by the voltage monitor circuit 204, an optical reception characteristics control circuit 115 optimizes reference levels and discrimination levels of a TIA reference voltage control circuit 108, limiter reference voltage control circuit 110, and CDR discrimination level control circuit 112.
