PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for controlling the temperature of a liquid droplet discharge head, in which a functional liquid is restrained from being dried to keep the precision of a functional liquid droplet to be discharged from the liquid droplet discharge head and to provide a method for controlling the temperature of an apparatus for discharging the liquid droplet. SOLUTION: The apparatus for controlling the temperature of the liquid droplet discharge head includes: a through-hole 19a which is formed by penetrating a supporting plate 19 below a carriage 18 and has the size enough to have a ventilation gap between the side face 30b of the liquid droplet discharge head 30 and a wall of the through-hole; a flange 30f which is projected from the side face 30b and used for fixing the liquid droplet discharge head 30, which is inserted into the through-hole 19a, to the supporting plate 19; a ventilation hole 19b formed by penetrating the supporting plate 19 in the vicinity of the through-hole 19a; a heat insulating member 40 which is arranged on the undersurface 19c of the supporting plate 19 and has a concave part 41 having an opening of the size enough to surround the ventilation hole 19b and the through-hole 19a on the undersurface 19c at the least; a head hole 43 which is formed by penetrating the concave part 41 and into which a nozzle plate 31 is inserted; and an ejector for forcibly circulating the air in a concave part space 41s by connecting an intake pipe P1 to the ventilation hole 19b and communicating the intake pipe P1 with the undersurface 19c.
