摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide metal powder for powder metallurgy by which, even in the case of a composition in which sinterability is basically inferior and atoms are arranged in a face-centered cubic lattice structure at sintering temperature, a sintered compact having improved sinterability and excellent mechanical properties can be easily manufactured, to provide a sintered compact excellent in mechanical properties which is manufactured using the metal powder for powder metallurgy and also to provide a method for manufacturing a sintered compact by which a dense sintered compact composed mainly of a face-centered cubic lattice phase can be manufactured without fail using the metal powder for powder metallurgy. SOLUTION: The metal powder for powder metallurgy is used for manufacturing a sintered compact by undergoing through the following steps: [A] a composition preparation step where the metal powder is mixed with a binder; [B] a shaping step; [C] a debinding step; and [D] a firing step. Such a metal powder for powder metallurgy has, as main components, a composition which precipitates a face-centered cubic lattice phase by sintering; and further, as an auxiliary component having a content lower than those of the main components, at least one element selected from the group consisting of Y, Zr and In is contained.
