PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic toner with small particle diameters, which has a high circularity, excellent image properties, and excellent preservability, and to provide a method for producing an electrophotographic toner. SOLUTION: Disclosed is an electrophotographic toner obtained by a production method having a process where a polyester-containing binding resin is made into toner particles in a water base medium, and the polyester is obtained by subjecting an alcohol component comprising polyethylene glycol with a number average molecular weight of 150 to 2,000 by 4 to 40 mol% and a carboxylic acid component to condensation polymerization.
