PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation method of a membrane filter apparatus for preventing the lowering of a backwashing effect and enhancing the washing force to a pollutant in membrane pores. SOLUTION: In the inner pressure type membrane filter apparatus equipped with a filter device using a hollow fiber membrane and chemicals adding and backwashing device of the hollow fiber membrane, the filtration in filtering treatment is performed under pressure not exceeding the expansion starting pressure of the hollow fiber membrane until the period immediately before the hollow fiber membrane is subjected to chemicals adding and washing treatment using the chemicals adding and backwashing device. Immediately before the hollow fiber membrane is subjected to the chemicals adding and washing treatment using the chemicals adding and backwashing device, the filtration in filtering treatment is performed using water sending pressure of hollow fiber membrane expanding start pressure abnormality.
