PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid composition for traction drive having a high traction coefficient, excellent low-temperature fluidity, a high viscosity index, and further even excellent boundary lubricity and stability. SOLUTION: The liquid composition for the traction drive comprises (A) an alicyclic compound having at least one cycloalkyl group in the molecule as a principal component, (B) a mineral oil, a synthetic oil, or a mixture thereof in an amount of 5-30 mass% based on the total amount of the composition, and (C) a viscosity index improver in an amount of 1-15 mass% based on the total amount of the composition.
