PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide chimeric DNA molecules that have the desired characteristics and/or DNA segments by moving or exchanging segments of a DNA molecule by using the engineered recombination sites and recombination proteins. SOLUTION: Provided are the nucleic acids, vectors and methods for moving or exchanging segments of the nucleic acids. Further provided are the recombinational cloning by the use of nucleic acids, vectors and methods, in vitro and in vivo, for cloning or subcloning the nucleic acid molecule in various vectors.
