<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved sol-gel process for producing the object of a quartz glass having acceptable transparency, particularly having high purity and free from cracks. <P>SOLUTION: The fine particles of silica produced by a thermal decomposition process are added to water at a pH value of acidity, so as to produce a dispersed liquid, silicon tetraalkoxide is added to the silica-dispersed liquid. so as to regulate the pH of the dispersed liquid, the generated sol solution is transferred to a vessel, so as to make the sol into a gel, and the wetted gel is dried, so as to be a xerogel, and the dried gel is sintered, so as to produce a glass product. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
