PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a mixed reality image with consistency which reflects a shape of a real object observed on a photographed image. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus includes: obtaining means for obtaining the photographed image captured in a real space; image processing means for processing the photographed image obtained by the obtaining means; and image generation means for generating an image by combining an image projected in a virtual space using a ray tracing method with a real object image included in the photographed image obtained by the obtaining means. The image generation means performs an operation of detecting an intersection of a ray and a virtual object based on the result of image processing by the image processing means.
