PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an environmental control system capable of appropriately controlling a peripheral environment of a subject and appropriately controlling the peripheral environment of the subject in various situations by acquiring measured intracerebral data related to the brain activity at a plurality of measurement sites on the brain surface of the subject. SOLUTION: This environmental control system is provided with an optical bioinstrumentation device 1 which has a light transceiver portion control section 4 for acquiring the measured intracerebral data, and a peripheral environment control device 100, and is characterized in having an evaluation pattern intracerebral data storage section 52 which stores comfortable pattern intracerebral data for determining whether or not the subject P feels the peripheral environment comfortable and/or stores uncomfortable pattern intracerebral data for determining whether or not the subject feels the peripheral environment uncomfortable, and a determination section 31 for determining the type of a control signal for controlling the peripheral environment by comparing the measured intracerebral data with the comfortable and uncomfortable pattern intracerebral data.
